In the laboratory, the calorimeter is a key instrument for accurately measuring the heat of substances, and the replacement cycle of its water directly affects the performance of the instrument and the accuracy of the experiment. Clarifying the water change cycle is the primary prerequisite for ensuring the stable operation of the calorimeter.

Under normal circumstances, the water replacement cycle of a calorimeter is not fixed, it is affected by factors such as frequency of use and water quality. If the instrument is used frequently and runs continuously for more than 4 hours a day, it is recommended to change the water every 1-2 weeks; if the frequency of use is low and the weekly use time is less than 10 hours, it can be replaced every 2-3 weeks. At the same time, if the water quality is found to be turbid, sediment or odor, it needs to be replaced immediately to avoid impurities affecting the heat conduction efficiency of the instrument.

Water changing operation specifications are equally critical. Before replacing, be sure to turn off the power of the calorimeter, and wait for the instrument to cool to room temperature to prevent burns. Open the drain, drain the old water, and wipe the sink and pipeline inside the instrument with a clean soft cloth to remove residual scale and impurities. Then, add purified water or distilled water that meets the requirements. The water level needs to be strictly controlled within the scale range marked by the instrument. Too high or too low will affect the experimental accuracy.

Daily maintenance recommendations should not be ignored. Before each use, check the water level and water quality, and regularly clean the sink and pipeline to avoid scale accumulation. In addition, it is recommended to establish a water change record to record the time and water quality of each water change in detail, so as to grasp the status of the instrument in time and plan maintenance work in advance.

Mastering the key points of changing water for a calorimeter can not only prolong the service life of the instrument, but also ensure the accuracy of the experimental data, providing a reliable guarantee for scientific research and testing.
