In the laboratory and various testing scenarios, the accuracy of the calorimeter plays a decisive role in the experimental results, and zinc calibration is an important part of ensuring its accurate operation. Here is a detailed introduction to the specific operation of zinc calibration for calorimeters.

preparatory work

Before calibration, it is necessary to ensure that the calorimeter is in good working condition, check whether the appearance of the instrument is damaged, and whether the power connection is stable. At the same time, prepare a zinc standard that meets the requirements of purity. Generally, the purity is not less than 99.99%, and there is no oxide layer or impurities on the surface. In addition, it is also necessary to be equipped with auxiliary tools such as tweezers, electronic balances, and dryers to ensure that the operating environment is dry and clean, and to avoid external factors interfering with the calibration results.

Zinc standard weighing operation

Use an electronic balance to accurately weigh the zinc standard sample. According to the calibration requirements of the calorimeter, accurately weigh the appropriate amount of zinc sample, usually between 0.1 and 0.5 grams. When weighing, ensure that the balance is calibrated accurately, and the operation is standardized to avoid affecting the calibration accuracy due to weighing errors. Put the weighed zinc standard sample carefully into the burning dish of the calorimeter with forceps. Be careful not to spill it, and ensure that the zinc sample is completely placed in the burning dish.

Calibration Process Implementation

Install the combustion dish with the zinc standard sample correctly into the combustion device of the calorimeter, and set the calibration parameters, such as ignition temperature, combustion time, etc., according to the instrument operation manual. Start the calorimeter calibration procedure, the instrument will automatically burn the zinc standard sample, monitor the heat released during the combustion process in real time through the sensor, and record the data.

Data logging and processing

During the calibration process, carefully record all the data displayed by the calorimeter, including the initial temperature, the maximum temperature, the burning time, etc. After the calibration, calculate the calibration coefficient of the calorimeter according to the recorded data, combined with the calorific value of zinc and other parameters. If the calibration coefficient exceeds the allowable range, check the operation process and re-calibrate until the calibration coefficient meets the requirements.

Check after calibration

After the calibration is completed, check the functions of the calorimeter again to ensure the stable operation of the instrument. At the same time, clean and organize the tools and instruments used in the calibration process, and properly store the zinc standard sample to prepare for the next calibration.

Through the above standardized operation steps, the zinc calibration of the calorimeter can be successfully completed, ensuring the accuracy of the calorimeter and providing reliable guarantees for subsequent experiments and testing.
