Importance of calorimeter Crucible Cleaning

After the calorimeter crucible is used, combustion residues, chemicals, etc. often remain. If it is not cleaned in time, it will not only affect the accuracy of the follow-up experiment, but also may corrode the crucible and shorten its service life. Therefore, it is crucial to master the correct cleaning method.

Preparation before cleaning

Before starting cleaning, it is necessary to prepare the necessary tools and reagents. Tools include soft brushes, forceps, clean rags, etc.; reagents can choose special cleaning agents, such as dilute hydrochloric acid solution (concentration controlled at 5% - 10%), or distilled water can be prepared according to the stain situation. At the same time, ensure that the operating environment is well ventilated, wear protective gloves and goggles to ensure your own safety.

Specific cleaning steps

1. Preliminary cleaning: After the crucible cools down, use tweezers to carefully remove the remaining large substances in the crucible to avoid scraping the inner wall of the crucible hard to prevent damage. Then, use a soft brush to gently sweep away the loose stains on the surface.

2. Soaking treatment: Put the crucible into a container containing a dilute hydrochloric acid solution to ensure that the stain part is completely soaked in the solution. The soaking time depends on the severity of the stain, generally 30 minutes to 2 hours. If the stain is light, the soaking time can be appropriately shortened.

3. Brush cleaning: After the soaking is completed, carefully brush the inner and outer walls of the crucible with a soft brush, focusing on cleaning the remaining stains. For stubborn stains, the brushing force can be appropriately increased, but care should be taken to avoid scratching the crucible.

4. Rinse and dry: Rinse the crucible repeatedly with distilled water until the rinse liquid is free of impurities and odor. Then put the crucible in an oven and dry it at a suitable temperature (usually 100-120 ° C) to ensure that the crucible is completely dry and prevent residual moisture from affecting subsequent use.

Maintenance and precautions after cleaning

The cleaned calorimeter crucible should be properly stored to avoid collisions and dust contamination. If not used for a long time, a thin layer of Vaseline can be applied to the surface of the crucible to prevent oxidation. In addition, during the cleaning process, it is necessary to strictly follow the operating specifications to avoid using sharp tools to scrape the crucible, so as not to affect its performance. Master these cleaning and maintenance methods, so that the calorimeter crucible can always be kept in good condition, providing a reliable guarantee for the experiment.
