When using a calorimeter for experiments, ignition failure is a relatively common problem. If it is not checked and solved in time, it will seriously affect the experimental progress. The following is a detailed analysis of the common causes and countermeasures of calorimeter ignition failure.

Ignition electrode failure

The ignition electrode is a key component of the calorimeter to achieve ignition. After long-term use, the electrode surface is prone to carbon deposition and oxidation, resulting in changes in the electrode spacing or poor contact, and no effective spark can be generated. In addition, the electrode connecting wire is loose or broken, which will also prevent the ignition signal from transmitting normally. In such cases, it is necessary to check the electrode surface first, gently polish it with fine sandpaper to remove carbon deposits and oxides, and ensure that the electrode spacing meets the instrument standards; then check the connecting wire, re-insert or replace the damaged wire.

Ignition circuit problem

The ignition line is responsible for transmitting the ignition command and power. If the line is short-circuited or open, or the relays and fuses in the line are damaged, the ignition function will fail. During investigation, you can use a multimeter to detect the line is on or off, focus on checking the status of relays and fuses, and replace damaged parts in time to ensure that the line is smooth.

Insufficient oxygen supply

The ignition of the calorimeter requires sufficient oxygen support. If the pressure of the oxygen cylinder is too low, the pressure reducing valve fails, or the oxygen pipeline is blocked or leaking, the oxygen supply will be insufficient and the ignition demand cannot be met. At this time, the pressure of the oxygen cylinder should be checked and the full bottle of oxygen should be replaced in time; check the pressure reducing valve and pipeline, clean the blockage, and repair the air leakage point to ensure a stable supply of oxygen.

Instrument program failure

Errors in the instrument program may also lead to ignition failure. For example, program parameter settings are wrong, software failures, etc. You can try to restart the instrument and restore the default parameter settings; if the problem persists, you need to contact the manufacturer to upgrade the software or perform system maintenance to ensure the normal operation of the instrument program.

Mastering the reasons and solutions for the failure of the calorimeter can quickly locate the problem and solve it to ensure the smooth progress of the experiment. In daily use, it is also necessary to maintain the instrument and check key components regularly to reduce the probability of failure.
