In all kinds of calorific value detection experiments, calorimeters play a central role, and the accuracy of their detection results directly affects the experimental results. To ensure the stable operation of the calorimeter and output reliable data, comprehensive inspection of key indicators is the core premise. The following core indicators need to be paid attention to.

Accuracy index: the core guarantee of detection data

Accuracy is the core performance index of a calorimeter and directly determines the reliability of the test results. During inspection, calibration tests need to be carried out with the help of reference materials to verify the deviation between the measured calorific value of the calorimeter and the nominal calorific value of the reference material. The deviation needs to be strictly controlled within the allowable range of the industry. Once the accuracy is not up to standard, the experimental data will be distorted and cannot provide an effective basis for energy measurement and product quality judgment. Therefore, accuracy inspection is a necessary link before each use.

Stability indicators: ensure consistent testing

Stability reflects the ability of the calorimeter to maintain the consistency of results during continuous testing. During inspection, multiple parallel sample tests are required to compare the fluctuation amplitude of multiple results. If the fluctuation exceeds the specified threshold, it indicates that the stability of the instrument is insufficient, and there may be problems such as abnormal temperature control system and aging components. If the stability is not up to standard, the detection data will be high and low, which cannot meet the needs of batch testing. It is necessary to troubleshoot and calibrate in time.

Temperature control metrics: a key prerequisite for accurate detection

The core of the work of a calorimeter is to precisely control the temperature change, and the temperature control index directly affects the detection results. The inspection focuses on the uniformity of the heating rate, the temperature control accuracy in the constant temperature stage, and the sensitivity of the temperature sensor. If the heating rate is unstable, the sample will not burn enough; insufficient temperature control accuracy will affect the accuracy of heat calculation. The temperature control system needs to be calibrated regularly to ensure that the temperature parameters meet the instrument design standards, and lay a solid foundation for accurate detection.

Repeatability metrics: Verify the reliability of the instrument

The repeatability index measures the consistency of the calorimeter's multiple test results on the same sample. During inspection, the same uniform sample should be selected, and the test should be repeated 3-5 times under the same experimental conditions to calculate the relative standard deviation of the results. If the repeatability is not up to standard, it indicates that the instrument has problems such as loose parts and irregular sample placement. It is necessary to check the operation process and instrument status in time to avoid invalid experimental data due to poor repeatability.

Sealing performance index: avoid heat loss

The sealing performance of the calorimeter is directly related to whether the heat is leaked, which in turn affects the test results. When checking, it is necessary to focus on whether the sealing rings of key parts such as oxygen bombs, inner cylinders, and outer cylinders are aging and whether the sealing surface is tight. The sealing effect can be verified by stress testing. If the sealing is not good, it will cause part of the heat generated by combustion to be lost, resulting in low test results. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully check the sealing state before each use and replace the aging seals in time.

Regular inspection of the above key indicators of the calorimeter can not only ensure the stable performance of the instrument, but also ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test data. Whether it is daily laboratory testing or calorific value measurement in energy, chemical and other industries, mastering these inspection points is the core foundation for ensuring the smooth development of the work.
