The core function of calorimeter standard

The calorimeter standard sample is the core reference material for calibrating the calorimeter, and its dosage accuracy directly determines the reliability of the instrument detection data. The standard sample helps to correct the deviation of the instrument by simulating the standard calorific value, and ensures the accuracy of the calorific value detection results of samples such as coal and chemical raw materials. It is the core consumable for laboratory quality control.

Basis for determination of standard sample dosage

The standard sample dosage is not a fixed value, which needs to be determined in combination with the calorimeter model, detection accuracy requirements and the calorific value parameters of the standard sample itself. Conventional calorimeter single calibration, the standard sample dosage is mostly controlled at 0.8-1 grams, and high-precision instruments can be fine-tuned to 0.6-1 grams. The core principle is to ensure that the standard sample burns fully, and the generated heat is in the optimal detection range of the instrument to avoid data distortion.

Key specifications for the use of standard samples



1. Accurate weighing: Use a 1/10,000 accuracy balance and weigh according to the dosage marked in the standard sample manual. The error should be controlled within ± 0.0002 grams to avoid calibration failure due to dosage deviation.

2. Standardized operation: The weighed standard sample is evenly compacted in the crucible to ensure complete combustion, while ensuring the stability of the instrument environment temperature and reducing the interference of external factors on the test results.

3. Regular calibration: It is recommended that each calorimeter be calibrated at least twice a month with standard samples. If the instrument is used frequently or the detection data fluctuates, the calibration frequency needs to be increased to ensure long-term detection accuracy.

Effect of Dosage Deviation

Excessive dosage can easily lead to incomplete combustion and generate residual heat, which makes the detection results high; if the dosage is too small, the heat signal is weak, and the instrument is difficult to accurately capture, resulting in low data. Only by strictly controlling the dosage of the standard sample can the calorimeter always maintain the best detection state and provide reliable support for the experimental data.
