Instrument calibration is not standard

Improper operation is an important factor leading to high measurement. When weighing the sample, if the sample is weighed too much and exceeds the optimal measurement range of the calorimeter, the instrument may not be able to accurately identify the heat change, resulting in an imaginary high measurement value. In addition, the sample is placed in the calorimeter too slowly, or it is not sealed in time, which will cause heat to be lost during the process. In order to compensate for this part of the lost heat, the instrument will erroneously give high measurement results. Therefore, when operating, it is necessary to strictly follow the process, accurately weigh the sample, and complete the sample delivery and sealing quickly and standardized.

Instrument parts are worn

After long-term use of the calorimeter, some key components will be worn out. For example, the sealing performance of the oxygen bomb will decline, which will cause oxygen leakage during the combustion process, causing the sample to burn inadequately. However, the instrument will misjudge that the sample has released a lot of heat, thus giving a high measurement value. In addition, the failure of the agitator may affect the uniform transfer of heat, resulting in distorted measurement data. Regular inspection and maintenance of the instrument components and timely replacement of worn parts are the keys to ensure accurate measurement.

Environmental factors interfere greatly

Calorimeters are more demanding on the environment. If the laboratory temperature is unstable, it will affect the thermal balance of the instrument, resulting in deviations in the measurement results. At the same time, high humidity may cause moisture in the internal components of the instrument, affecting its normal operation, and then causing high measurement. Therefore, try to control the laboratory temperature within the specified range, keep the environment dry, and create stable working conditions for the calorimeter.
